The classic banana split gets a fun twist, courtesy of a double hit of banana bread. Start by folding chunks of the stuff (store-bought or homemade) into vanilla ice cream. This becomes the sweet, chewy, gently spiced base for the split. Let the ice cream harden up in the freezer, then scoop it over halved bananas, and top with caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream. For a finishing touch, sprinkle on banana bread crumbles that have been gently toasted in the oven. Along with walnuts, they add a delicious crunch to this undeniably epic banana split.

Add extra flavor to the banana bread ice cream by folding in ribbons of caramel or chocolate syrup when you add the banana bread to the vanilla ice cream.
