Google’s First Pixel 10 and 10 Pro Update Arrives

If you bought a fancy new Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, or Pixel 10 Pro XL, you’ll be happy to hear that Google’s busy sending out its first big bug-fixing software update to improve your experience. While the phones receive new day-one software out of the box, this new September OTA is the first real update, and it’s full of important changes.

While these new phones were already running the latest August 2025 security patch alongside Android 16, the update rolling out this week for all Pixel 10 models brings them up to date with the latest September release.

Depending on your model, the Pixel 10 September update weighs around 31MB, which means it’s rather small. However, good things can come in small packages. The most notable change, at least according to the Verizon changelog, is that it’ll fix the “fuzzy display” bug some users are experiencing. Yes, if you thought your Pixel 10 was broken and the screen looked like a fuzzy old TV, this release should fix that problem and deliver several other improvements.

For what it’s worth, this update is only rolling out for the Pixel 10 series so far, but there’s a good chance it’ll hit older Pixels in the coming days and weeks. If you bought a new Pixel 10 or Pixel 10 Pro and noticed issues with the power button, random software instability, or audio glitches, this update is for you. Here’s the relatively short changelog.

  • General improvements to system stability and performance for some audio-related situations.
  • A fix for an issue with the screen randomly turning black while browsing the web, along with the fuzzy screen issue.
  • Patches a bug that caused the power button to stop working in certain situations while using Android Auto or charging.
  • Overall system performance and stability upgrades.
  • The most up-to-date Android security patches for your device.

Those with a new Pixel 10 phone can expect the update to hit their device sometime today or throughout the next several days. Google typically releases software upgrades in waves, so don’t be alarmed if you don’t get it right away.

It’s worth noting that in our Google Pixel 10 review, and our Google Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL Review, we didn’t experience any issues with sound quality or the display. That said, it’s still a lingering problem for some, and it’s good to see Google working so quickly to fix a few early bugs on its new flagship smartphone.

While not mentioned in the changelog, after receiving the update last night, I’ve noticed my Pixel 10 Pro XL feels a bit snappier. More importantly, it appears that the update also fixed some general instability with Android Auto. A few owners reported the phone failing to connect to Android Auto, and mine has had no issues since the update arrived. Be patient, and your phone should get it soon enough.
