If you find bathroom sanitizing an inconvenient and time-consuming chore, I have the perfect technique for you – the wet room bathroom cleaning method.
Not only do I find I have to do less when I use it, but it’s also much quicker and more convenient than other methods I’ve tried in the past, and significantly cuts down on the amount of sprays, sponges, and cloths you’ll need to use, too.
Here’s why I think it’s one of the best cleaning tips for a sanitized space.
What is the wet room bathroom cleaning method?
While this technique might sound a little ambiguous, it’s actually oh-so simple, and so easy to try in your own space when you need to clean your bathroom.

With an en-suite in need of a deep clean, and armed with Karina’s reassurance, I decided to give it a go in my own home. Like always, I began by gathering my cleaning supplies. You will need:
Once gathered, I put on my cleaning playlist and began by removing any items from the floor which may get in the way of my chores, including my small shelving unit, stool where I keep my everyday items like toothpaste and deodorant, and any back-up toiletries I store next to the bath.
Make sure you keep in mind the dry/ damp rule and give your space a dust or quick run around with your cordless vacuum at this point.
Then, after diluting my multi-purpose disinfectant as recommended on the packaging, I got to scrubbing.
Pretty quickly, the effect on my tiles was gladly noticed – this technique does require a little more elbow grease than most, but the good thing is it requires far less time for an efficient clean.
Once I’d done the whole floor, and underneath my freestanding bath, I then turned my attention to cleaning my shower, which was made effortlessly easy with my Joseph Joseph telescopic scrubber, that is perfect for hard-to-reach tasks.
I then just quickly followed up with my sanitizing spray and a microfiber cloth, such as the Great Value Multipurpose Microfiber Household Cleaning Cloth available at Walmart, and a dedicated spray to tackle any lingering mold in the shower. In essence, this technique perfectly captures the way I like to do chores – it’s quick, logical, and makes a big impact with only a little time, making it possible and easy to clean a bathroom in 30 minutes or less.
Karina agrees, adding, ‘It’s efficient, hygienic, and ideal for maintaining grout and tiles.’
The only thing to note is that once you’ve wet the entire floor and walls of your bathroom, you will, of course, have to wait for it to dry, or dry it quickly. I kept the door open with the extraction fan running to speed up the process, but Karina also recommends using the OXO Good Grips All-Purpose Squeegee available at Amazon to speed up drying and prevent water spots.
Now, every time I need to do a really deep spruce of my en suite – at least once a fortnight – I know exactly how I’ll be doing it. Plus, there’s something so satisfying about scrubbing a space from top to bottom and enjoying the sparkling results afterwards.
