Numarine’s New 89-Foot Pocket Explorer Has Serious Big Yacht Energy

Numarine knows small changes to a yacht can make a huge difference.

The Turkish yard has unveiled a new model that builds upon the highly successful 26XP pocket explorer, but is larger and more luxurious. The 27XP, which debuted during the Cannes Yachting Festival, features the same sleek exterior styling as her predecessor but measures nearly 89 feet rather than 85. It also offers greater interior volume and a reimagined flexible layout.

“After keeping our cards close to our chests for a little while as we worked on refining the design, we are thrilled to unveil our latest model, the 27XP,” Numarine founder and chairman Ömer Malaz said in a statement. “Longer, roomier and more versatile than her predecessor, she introduces new levels of comfort, light and openness, while still keeping the rugged explorer spirit which defines our XP series.”

Penned inside and out by Numarine’s go-to designer Can Yalman, the 89-footer showcases the sharp lines synonymous with the XP series and an expansive, light-filled interior that can be tailored to the owner. The revamped living quarters create more space for family and friends. The  27XP can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests and four crew, while the 26XP can sleep up to eight guests and three crew.

The five-cabin configuration sees a VIP on the main deck and two VIPs, a twin, and an owner’s suite on the lower deck. The full-beam owner’s suite, which is much bigger than that of the 26XP, comes complete with a spacious bathroom and walk-in closet. Alternatively, the four-cabin layout has all guest accommodation on the lower deck. The positioning of the wheelhouse also changes depending on cabin location. All cabins are outfitted with giant windows that afford prime sea views.

The 27XP also offers more space for entertaining than the 26XP, with an expanded galley and dining area. Numarine says the open kitchen helps to deliver a “big yacht feel,” creating ample space for large gatherings. The exterior decks have been reimagined, too, with the bow lounge raised to provide better vistas and the flybridge extended to create more open-air space.

You can, of course, expect the same long-range cruising capabilities. Powered by twin MAN 560 engines, the 27XP has a top speed of 13.5 knots, a cruising speed of 10 knots, and a maximum range of 2,200 nautical miles at 8 knots.

Numarine has delivered 30 examples of the 26XP in the past seven-odd years, illustrating the popularity of the entry-level explorer.
